A growing faith
Our Sunday School class started in our study through the book of Philippians this past Sunday. We started with some of my favorite verses Philippians 1:1-11. In verses 9-11 the Bible sums up the apostle Paul’s prayer for the church. It is a great prayer for us today as we are surrounded by challenges this fall.
“And I pray this: that your love will keep growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, so that you may approve the things that are superior and may be pure and blameless in the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God “(Philippians 1:9-11, CSB).
Even during challenging or difficult times as a follower of Christ our primary purpose in life is to bring glory and praise to God. To put it plainly, our words, our actions, and our attitudes are to bring glory to God. As we grow in our faith others can see Christ in our words and our deeds.
We live in a world that desperately needs to see that Christ’s love is real and can transform a life now and in eternity. These words provide a wonderful prayer for our own lives and for the needs of those on our heart today.
