Take Heart

 Take Heart

In Mark 6:49-52 we have a powerful text that is recorded in all four gospels.

“But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, ‘Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.’ “

The church moves through time as the boat moved through the water with the disciples. Storms come in our lives individually and to the church corporately. We are currently weathering through a storm of illness/COVID in this local expression of Jesus’ church. Our hearts are heavy for those who are ill and struggling.

During the fourth watch of the night, between the hours of 3:00am and 6:00am, that is the darkest time of the night, before dawn, Jesus came walking on the sea. The disciples were terrified and cried out. Jesus said to them, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

Today, Jesus has a word of encouragement for you and for me. Take heart, you and I are not alone, he is right here with us. The storm may be raging, but he is here with us. The one that the wind and the waves obey will see you and see me through this storm.

Take heart church!
