Even the winds and the sea obey him

 This week I read one of my favorite miracles recorded in Matthew 8:23-27.  

 

After a busy time of ministry, Jesus got in a boat with the disciples. A terrible storm came up and they came to Jesus, who was asleep and woke him up saying, "Save us Lord; we are perishing." 

 

Jesus rebuked the winds and the sea, and everything became calm. 

 

The disciples were so amazed they said, "What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?" (Matthew 8:27, NASB). 

 

If you are in the midst of a storm the scripture has good news for you. Our Jesus is stronger than any storm you may face.  

He provides all we need

He provides all we need 

 

I am so thankful that the Lord provides all we need for a daily walk with him.  He has given us the Holy Spirit that lives within us to direct us and guide us.  God has even provided for us when we fail.  Our desire as a believer is to live for Jesus and to honor him, but we still fall short.   

 

This week the words of 1 John 1:9 have given me great encouragement.  The Bible says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanses us from all unrighteousness" (NASB). 

 

Thank you, Lord, that you thought of everything; the cross, the empty tomb, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, and cleansing of sin even as a believer when we fail. 

 

 

Thank you, Lord, for your grace and mercy poured out upon our lives.

As I approach a new season in my life, I have found the following applications from 1 Peter 5:6, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty had of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (ESV). 

 

This season of life challenges me to humble myself. 

 

This season of life challenges me to listen more and speak less. 

 

This season of life challenges me to wait on God’s timing and God’s direction. 

 

This season of life challenges me to give all my cares and worries on Jesus. 

 

This season of life challenges me to trust God, that he really does care for me and will provide all I need.
